CBSE Class 12th Results 2026 Out - Improvement Exams Allowed in One Subject

The Central Board of Secondary Education has announced the CBSE Class 12 Result 2026 for the 2025–26 academic session.

Along with the result, the board has also shared important details about the CBSE Class 12 supplementary exams 2026 and the improvement exam option for students.

This year, CBSE will conduct the Class 12 supplementary examinations on July 15, 2026, in a single day. Students who have been placed in the compartment category will be eligible to appear.

In addition, students who have passed Class 12 but want to improve their marks in one subject can also apply for the supplementary exam.

CBSE 12th Supplementary Exam 2026 Date

CBSE has scheduled the Class 12 supplementary exams for July 15, 2026. The exams will be held in one day for eligible candidates.

A total of 1,63,800 students have been placed in the compartment category this year. This is higher than previous years. In 2025, the number was 1,29,095, while in 2024, 1,22,170 students were placed in the compartment category.

The supplementary exam gives students another chance to clear their subject or improve their performance without losing an academic year.

Improvement Exam Allowed in One Subject

Students who have passed the CBSE Class 12 board exams in 2026 but are not satisfied with their marks can apply for the improvement exam in one subject only.

This option is useful for students who want better marks for college admissions, competitive exams, scholarships, or overall academic performance. However, students must carefully choose the subject because improvement is allowed for only one paper under this supplementary exam process.

LOC Submission Starts on June 2

For eligible students, the online submission of the List of Candidates, also known as LOC, will begin on June 2, 2026.

CBSE has made it clear that the LOC must be submitted online. Schools and students must ensure all details are correct before final submission. Once the LOC is submitted, changes such as adding or deleting names or subjects will not be allowed.

The board has advised schools to follow the deadlines strictly. No applications will be accepted after the closing dates.

Who Can Apply for CBSE Supplementary Exams?

CBSE has listed three main categories of students who can appear for the July supplementary exams.

First, students who passed Class 12 in 2026 but want to improve their marks in one subject can apply.

Second, students who appeared in the 2026 main board exams and were placed in the compartment category are eligible.

Third, students from the 2025 session who are using their final opportunity to clear the compartment exam can also appear.

A detailed circular with complete instructions is expected to be issued by CBSE shortly.

For compartment students, the July exam provides a chance to continue their academic journey without major delay. For improvement candidates, it offers an opportunity to strengthen their final marksheet.

Students should keep checking official CBSE updates and stay in touch with their schools for application dates, fees, admit cards, and exam instructions.
